  • Guardiola's surprise

Pep Guardiola has admitted to being surprised at Copenhagen's choice of striker in his pre-match interview.

He had expected Cornelius to start up top, but instead Jacob Neestrup has opted to play the more mobile Karamako.

Jack Grealish has come in for plenty of criticism ever since his £100 million transfer but he may be reaching a turning point in his City career.

Grealish is starting his fourth consecutive game for Pep Guardiola's side this evening, and he will be looking to replicate his impressive performance in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

  • The atmosphere is building

The Copenhagen fans are certainly up for this one and are making plenty of noise as the players emerge for their warm ups.

The City fans on the other hand look understandably relaxed ahead of the game.

  • Haaland's crazy goal scoring record

Erling Haaland was seemingly born to score goals in the Champions League.

He averages a goal every 62 minutes in Europe's leading club competition.

Only 30 players in Champions League history have scored more than him in the competition and you wouldn't bet against him adding to his tally this evening.

Haaland starts but his right-hand man, Kevin De Bruyne, is on the bench.

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Cancelo, Dias, Laporte, Gomez, Mahrez, Gundogan, Bernardo, Grealish, Alvarez, Haaland

  • Injury news

Kyle Walker looks set to miss out tonight after picking up a knock during the Manchester derby on Sunday afternoon.

Rodri took part in the team's open training session yesterday so could return, but John Stones (hamstring) and Kalvin Phillips (shoulder) were absent.

  • Hello from the Etihad

Good evening and welcome to our coverage of the Champions league fixture between Manchester City and FC Copenhagen.

Pep Guardiola's team are flying right now and all eyes will be on their new talisman, Erling Haaland.

City are sitting pretty at the top of Group G with a maximum six points from their opening two fixtures, and another win tonight will all but secure their safe passage into the knockout rounds.

Copenhagen, meanwhile, are third having lost away at Borussia Dortmund in matchday one before a goalless draw with Sevilla last time out.

City are currently on a run of five matches in 14 days so Guardiola will be looking to utilise the full extent of his squad during this busy period.

Pep Guardiola's team selection can be as unpredictable as Will Smith at an awards ceremony, so trying to second-guess his starting eleven tonight is a tough ask.

Copenhagen have been struggling for consistency this season and sit sixth in the Danish Superliga after five wins and six defeats from their opening 11 games. A trip to the Etihad certainly feels ominous.

Team news is expected shortly, stay with us for all the pre-match build up!
