Lanarkshire author in the spotlight at Bookface group's latest Sip and Swap event

A Lanarkshire reading group will champion the work of a local author with two best-selling books under her belt during its next monthly get-together.

Sophia Gravia will be the special guest at Bookface's upcoming Sip and Swap event in Glasgow.

Funny, filthy, foul-mouthed and not for the faint hearted, Sophie’s novels have earned her legions of fans and the Bellshill novelist is currently writing her third book in the series which features lead character Zara’s dramatic dating debacles.

Full-time nurse and single mum-of-two Sophie’s debut novel A Glasgow Kiss was developed from the collected accounts of her online dating experiences, and those of her friends, and started as a blog during lockdown.

As well as hitting the top spot in the Erotic Fiction charts on Amazon, Waterstones made it one of their books of the year.

Sophie will be discussing her second book, What Happens in Dubai, and sharing insight into her third novel, which is released in August, during the Bookface event at Glasgow's August House on April 29.

Sophie said: “ What Happens in Dubai was released last August and a lot has happened since then.

"I can’t wait to catch up with all the Bookface guests. These events are always great fun."

Bookface is run by Coatbridge literary champion Heather Suttie and the Sip and Swap format sees guests participating in a book swap featuring 400 books of every genre and a 30-minute Q&A with the guest author.

Open to all, the monthly gatherings are an opportunity for budding authors and avid readers to "pick the brains of successful authors and enjoy an uplifting afternoon with people who love great books".

Heather added: "I’m thrilled to bits Sophie is joining us. I’ve read both her books and they’re hilarious; shocking and laced with wonderful Glaswegian wit and warmth.

"The Bookface events are great for saving money and being sustainable as the swap element is a big hit people who love a great book, guests recycle books and pick up new ones from every genre, perhaps picking up titles they might not otherwise have chosen to read."

Participants are encouraged to bring four books to participate in the sustainable book swap.
