Just what are Harry and Meghan trying to achieve with Netflix documentary?

Harry and Meghan are back in the headlines again, but whose side are you on?

Following the release of trailers for their new Netflix documentary, speculation is rife over just what they’re going to reveal about their time in the Royal family.

The subject of Britain and Christianity remains a big talking point too, plus one reader has had it with buses.

But most importantly. It’s December. Are you still wearing shorts?

Harry is being ‘disrespectful to his family’

■ Bombshell trailers for Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary concerning the royal family have been released.

I always liked Harry. I loved his commitment to the armed forces and connection to the citizens of the UK.

We all see the way marriage changes our attitudes to our own family and the royals are no different.

I don’t know what he is trying to achieve with the documentary – said to be critical of Buckingham Palace and the media – but he’s being disrespectful to his family and his country and has totally embarrassed himself. The family gave him what he wanted – he has his freedom. Paul, Essex

■ The simplest way to end the Harry and Meghan saga is not to engage with it. We all have difficult lives and few are as privileged as these two. Our TV will be firmly switched off. Martin, Hampshire

■ The attack on the royal family by Harry and Meghan will not go down well with the British public.

We are a monarchy-loving nation, as the outpouring of grief for the late Queen showed this year.

Harry and Meghan’s grievances should have been dealt with in private, within the royal family, and not splashed across every newspaper in the world and in a documentary on Netflix. Scott, West London

■ Harry and Meghan have realised too late that they would no longer be needed in a slimmed-down royal family under King Charles and the rise of Kate and William’s family. Hence they are determined to gain every cent they can out of Netflix with their tantrum. Andrew Edwards, Camberwell

■ The pair are abusing the system that created them. I will not be watching this indulgent series on Netflix. M Morris, London

■ ‘Spoilt brats’ springs to mind. It was their choice to step down from royal duties, so stop whingeing. A Davis, Yorkshire

■ UFOs were mentioned in MetroTalk yesterday but even if aliens did land,I bet they still wouldn’t receive as much coverage as Harry and Meghan. David Perry, Broadstairs

That’s it! I’m on the path to vengeance

■ I have just read Emmie Harrison-West’s article in which she explains her decision to no longer move out of the way of men who walk towards her and being bashed into as a result.

I have encountered this all my life (sadly enough, Indo-Canadian women often accept it as a fact of life). I am a runner and I have had to step off the trail when faced with a posse of arrogant male runners who think they must run together as a pack at all costs.

One day, now that I am 10 years older and a feisty, grey-haired, self-actualised woman with a score to settle, I will run right into the middle of that arrogant pack of mongrels! Thank you, Emmie, for the inspiration. And if I get hurt, I will get it all on camera. K, via email

Christianity’s positive effects on the UK are of biblical proportions

■ Lester May says that, as the Census shows less than 50 per cent of people consider themselves Christian and that 37 per cent are of no religion, it is time to take religion out of the state.

Would you take down a solar panel that heated a whole house because it covered less than 50 per cent of the roof? Even if there aren’t 50 per cent identifying Christians, it’s not a good reason to defund religious teaching or enterprise.

The positive effects of applied Christianity in this country resulted in great art, music, social enterprises, education, law and many other good things – the NHS, for one.

We Christians might not shout for visibility but we do, and have done, good beyond our ‘percentage’. Not everything is shown in media, as Jesus said not to look for recognition.

However, I agree that church wealth should be poured back into bettering the UK. Joshua Cartwright, Luton

■ Lester May tells us religion is ‘unbelievable’. He’ll be working normally on Christmas Day, I assume, with nothing to celebrate. Steve O’Neill, Manchester

■ The only things Lester May didn’t propose closing were Christmas and Easter – unless they’d be cancelled by default. I’ve read a lot of rubbish in my time but this is on the top of the pile. Gary Holmyard, Wembley Park

Somebody’s having a bad day…

■ Travelling on London buses is a very unpleasant experience because of the following matters. Parents bring juggernaut-size perambulators on to the vehicle rather than fold-up pushchairs – and a large amount of space is taken.

Some people bring on very big suitcases. Travelling light is an unknown concept to these selfish morons. The contents of the cases must contain everything but the kitchen sink.

Most people below 30 experience MPA – mobile phone addiction. It is maddening to suffer people shouting rubbish down the damn things.

Gangs of teenagers on their way home from school are extremely noisy. They are often overweight because of the consumption of vast quantities of crisps, and yellow boxes containing chips and fried chicken with ketchup.

Some young bus drivers love to hit the accelerator and brakes too often, causing an unpleasant journey for passengers and damage to the bus.

The solution is to travel by car, scrap the Congestion Charge and abolish cycle lanes. Andrew Wilkinson, by email

People who still wear shorts to work in December, unite!

■ Now the cooler mornings are here it’s great to see there are still a few hardy (or is that foolhardy?) fellow shorts-wearers out and about.

I’m still happily wearing shorts – I’m not a postman, by the way – and I enjoy the friendly nod and acknowledgement from other shorts-wearers on the bus and train in the morning.

My boss told me this morning that I must be cold because I’m wearing shorts. She gave me a look of total disbelief when I told her it’s not cold at all.

Please back me up and prove that I’m not weird to still be wearing shorts in December. #shortsallyear David Ayres, Mitcham

Starmer’s proposals for the Lords won’t right its wrongs

■ Sir Keir Starmer has pledged to abolish the ‘indefensible’ House of Lords ‘as quickly as possible’ if Labour win power and replace it with an elected chamber (Metro, Tue). I’m bitterly disappointed.

There’s a huge advantage in having a chamber that isn’t overly concerned with party politics and the next election.

Whatever people might perceive to be wrong with the House of Lords, abolishing it is not the solution. Will we never learn? Agatha, Surrey

Let us hear the crowds sing

■ I do wish the World Cup football commentators would just shut up for five minutes at the end of the match so we could hear the crowds. I would love to have heard the African music and the singing after the African nations’ matches. Annie Knight, Bexhill-On-Sea
