How Man Utd could line up with £80m Harry Kane transfer and Erik ten Hag's dream signing

Manchester United are in line for a busy summer transfer window as Erik ten Hag aims to build on an impressive first season at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman ended the Red Devils’ long wait for silverware by lifting the Carabao Cup against Newcastle. United are also still in the running for the FA Cup and Europa League, whilst they have fleeting hopes of the Premier League title.

He will be aiming to have an equally successful second season at the club but before that, the Red Devils could potentially turn to the transfer market despite there still being questions over who the club’s owners could be at that time.

With that being said, Mirror Football takes a look at how United could potentially line up after a busy transfer window.

David De Gea

The Spaniard is out of contract this summer and with doubts lingering over a new deal, there are suggestions that he could be on his way out of Old Trafford in just a few short months‘ time. Ten Hag would likely prefer to keep his number one at the club, though, and if De Gea agrees to a new deal, it seems highly likely that he will be between the sticks next term.

Jurrien Timber

Ten Hag has had a tricky decision to make over the right-back berth this term. Diogo Dalot began the season impressively, whilst Aaron Wan-Bissaka performed admirably in his absence.

Despite that, talk over a future move for Dutch youngster Jurrien Timber has refused to go away. The 21-year-olf has even admitted that he could move away sooner rather than later and would be a perfect occupant of the right-back slot.

Raphael Varane

One half of Ten Hag’s preferred defensive partnership, the Frenchman is first choice for a centre-back spot despite his injury problems this term. The 29-year-old has been limited to just 17 Premier League starts throughout the campaign but remains among the club’s best defenders and should retain his place regardless of any business.

Lisandro Martinez

Despite initial doubts over his stature following his arrival from Ajax, Lisandro Martinez has adapted to life in the Premier League with ease. The 25-year-old Argentinian is a trusted custodian under Ten Hag following his performances in Amsterdam and Manchester.

His fledgling relationship with Varane is evidence of why he should retain his place in the side.

Luke Shaw

Despite the signing of Tyrell Malacia last summer, England international Shaw has held onto the left-back berth for the vast majority of the campaign. The former Southampton man has made 22 appearances in the league and has been an extremely reliable performer for Ten Hag.

Frenkie de Jong

Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong is another long-term target of the Red Devils. United tried to sign him last summer and even had a bid accepted for the midfielder.

Their interest could be renewed heading into next season and it would not be a surprise to finally see a move for Ten Hag’s coveted former Ajax star completed.

Casemiro

Whilst United were left frustrated in their efforts to sign De Jong last summer, they did eventually sign a midfielder from a Spanish club as Casemiro arrived at Old Trafford from Real Madrid for big money.

Despite a few disciplinary issues, the Brazilian has been a transformative signing for the club. He has been a key performer behind their push for glory on multiple fronts and should retain his place, potentially alongside De Jong.

Bruno Fernandes

Speaking of transformative signings, the same could certainly be said for Portuguese playmaker Bruno Fernandes. The former Sporting Lisbon midfielder has been near ever-present since his arrival at Old Trafford.

Whilst he has not quite managed to match the lofty heights of previous campaigns, he seems certain to continue as a key player for the club despite severe competition from Christian Eriksen.

Antony

Signed for over £80m last summer from Ajax, the Brazilian winger has not yet managed to hit his top form at Old Trafford. He has nine goals to his name this term - only three of which have come in the Premier League.

Considering his age and the fact that he has been a key player under Ten Hag in the past, it would not be unreasonable to suggest that after a period of perseverance and adaptation, he could yet earn himself a key role in the United starting XI in the near future.

Harry Kane

Heading into the summer, United have a big-name striker at the top of their transfer shortlist. After breaking the England goalscoring record, Tottenham forward Harry Kane could be the ideal candidate.

It has been claimed that the Red Devils are hopeful of striking an £80m deal for the 29-year-old striker, with his contract set to expire next summer.

Marcus Rashford

Sure to be crowned United’s player of the season, academy graduate Marcus Rashford is in the midst of his best-ever goalscoring campaign. The 25-year-old has scored 27 times in all competitions.

There is doubt over his future - Rashford has just over a year remaining on his contract - but for the time being, he remains certain to be a key part of Ten Hag’s plans.
