Ryan Giggs shed tears over every word about being arrested for allegedly headbutting his ex

Ryan Giggs tearfully described his night in jail after being arrested for allegedly headbutting his ex-girlfriend as "the worst experience of my life."

Former Manchester United star, 48, Greville, 37, after getting into an altercation at his home in Greater Manchester's Worsley on November 1, 2020. was accused of assaulting Mr. Greville told his court jury that he was in Manchester. Last week, Giggs "grabbed my shoulders, looked me straight in the eye, and headbutted my lips."

Giggs, who has also been accused of acting intimidating and controlling towards Mr. Greville during their six-year relationship, denied all the charges and wrestled on his phone. It claims that there was "slight contact" between the two faces when they were together.

When the court heard that Mr. Greville's sister had called the police, Giggs was arrested and spent the night in custody. When asked by barrister Chris Daw QC how he found out about that night, the former Welsh manager told jurors "the worst experience of my life" and started crying.

Judge Hillary Manley asked Giggs. He replied, "No, I'm fine," and Mr. Daw said, "Sorry, we only have a few minutes left [of questions]." The evidence was then reopened.

Ms. Greville claims she was "pinned" to the ground when Giggs tried to take a cell phone from her in her hallway before her alleged headbutt. there is The former Manchester United player denied trying to steal Ms Greville's phone this afternoon, testifying that the two tripped over her bag in the hallway and accidentally landed on her.

He then claimed to have found Ms. Greville's phone in the home's utility room and pocketed it in retaliation for her taking her phone away minutes earlier. He had the pair move around the kitchen island in a "tug-of-war".

Giggs told the jury: She felt her lips against hers as she tugged. She could clearly see that she was hurt. He also told the court that he had considered calling the police on earlier lines because Ms. Greville and her sister had been refusing to leave the house.

When Kate Greville and her sister accused him of headbutting Kate, Giggs told them he had already called the police — he lied to the jury. admitted that Asked by barrister Chris Daw QC why he lied, Giggs said, "Because I changed my mind and found that he was blaming me for something I didn't do."

He agreed that he was thinking about the "impact" of being accused of headbutting someone in the face. When asked about the impact by Mr. Daw, Giggs said:

Ryan Giggs (RG): She picked up my phone and stupidly I picked up her phone and returned it. I didn't try, so it was a little thing. Kate then grabbed me by the wrist with her hands still in her pockets and took me to the refrigerator. So I head to the fridge and Kate walks backwards and goes in that direction towards the fridge.

Chris Daw QC (CD): What if you were doing something? what were you doing to her physically?

Giggs : I was led by her to keep her out of my pocket.

Mr. Daw: What was she doing?

Giggs: She kept telling me to return her phone, but she wasn't going to pull me over. pocket.

Mr. Daw : How long did it last?

Giggs We circled the kitchen island.

Mr. Daw: What happened physically during that time?

Giggs : Kate was just grabbing my wrist and trying to reach out of my pocket, but yeah, we were moving in the same direction.

Mr. Daw: You didn't realize Emma was in her room.

Giggs: No.

Daw: How far did the two of you perform the actions you described? she's holding your hand You have your hands stuffed in your pockets. you are retreating she is moving forward …

Giggs: As you circle around the island, you will see a chair to her right. That is the table and chairs in her dining room.

Mr. Dow: How did things end? What made you finally break up?

Giggs: Kate stopped with her back against her chair and her dining table. Her towing got a little aggressive and actually went back and forth where she wasn't guiding us around the island. There was really nowhere to go because of the table and chairs in the back.

Mr. Daw: Was there any physical contact with you?

Giggs: Yes.

Mr. Dow: What's wrong?

Giggs: Becoming increasingly aggressive. we were facing each other. It was a kind of tug of war. And then I hit my head.

Mr. Daw: Do you remember where your face and head and her face and head met?

Giggs: It's been a while. She felt her lips against hers as she tugged.

Mr. Daw: What was her reaction after that?

Giggs: I could clearly see that she was injured.

Mr. Daw: How did she look hurt?

Giggs: She did not fall to the floor, but to the table.

Mr. Daw: And who became more aggressive when it happened.

Giggs: Movement has become more aggressive. Kate became more aggressive as we naturally stopped and she took no pleasure in taking my wrist out of my pocket. It got more aggressive when we had to stop for the dining room table.

Mr. Doe: Did she say something to you?

Giggs: No.

Mr. Dow: Afterwards, did she say anything about what happened or blame you?

Giggs: Yes, after that she accused me of punching her in the face.

Mr. Daw: Did she use the word "hit" or something else?

Giggs: She accused me of headbutting.

Mr. Daw: Did you know that Emma appears throughout that sequence?

Giggs: Yes, dining she table when nature was nearing its end. Then Emma entered the room.

Mr. Daw: Did Emma say anything at that point?

Giggs: No, I think she was yelling to stop, but she can't remember what she said.

Mr. Daw: Mr. Giggs put her hand on Kate's shoulder at any moment and violently and deliberately headbutted her in the face.

Giggs: No, I didn't.

Mr. Daw: Have you ever done that?

Giggs: No.

Mr. Dow: Then you said you were accusing Kate of headbutting.

Giggs: Yes.

Mr. Daw: Did the police come up?

Giggs: Yes.

Mr. Daw: How did you come up with that?

Giggs: Emma said she would call the police immediately. She said she had already called the police, she thinks, as a threat she made earlier in the evening.

Mr. Doe: So what you said is not true.

Giggs: No.

Mr. Dow: Then why did you say that?

Giggs: Because now I have changed my mind and see that they blame me for what I did not do.

Mr. Daw: You said Kate accused you of headbutting, did Emma say anything?

Giggs: Yes, she said the same thing.

Mr. Daw: And is it true that they were blaming you?

Giggs: No, it's not.

Mr. Dow: Were you thinking at the time about the ramifications of being accused of headbutting someone in the face?

Giggs: Yes.

Mr. Dow: What was the impact?

Giggs: Well, I was confused and scared. I was scared because it looked completely different than it does now.

Giggs continued his testimony after the lunch break. Here is the full text of the evidence:

Mr. Daw: What does this photo show and when was it taken?

Giggs: You cut your lip.

Mr. Dow: What exactly were the scars around the mouth?

Giggs: There were several cuts around the lip and mouth.

Mr. Dow: And how were they caused?

Giggs: During the evening.

Mr. Daw: I don't know if they were caused during the course of the first incident in the hallway, or his second incident in the kitchen. Do you have.

Giggs: I'm not sure how many were injured in the first incident. I was indeed disconnected on the first incident.

Mr. Daw: Do you know if you were injured in any way when you came face to face in the second incident?

Giggs: I don't know.

Mr. Daw: Did you have any injuries to your mouth area before that night?

Giggs: No.

Mr. Doe: Were there any opportunities besides his two that Mr. Greville was involved with? injury that night.

Giggs: No, I didn't.

Mr. Daw: Here is the second picture. Can you help me with the one in the picture?

Giggs: You have a cut on your upper lip. By what happens as a result of the police getting involved, it's because they were accusing you of headbutting Kate.

Giggs: Yes.

Mr. Dow: Did you ever notice the police on your way?

Giggs: Yes.

Mr. Daw: After you learned that the police were coming, what did you do until they arrived?

Giggs: I stood on the doorstep waiting for them to arrive, while they were having trouble finding their homes.

Mr. Daw: Where did you see the police?

Giggs: When I was at home.

Mr. Daw: What gave you the impression that they were having trouble finding a home?

Giggs: I saw them pass by. It's a fairly new street so obviously my mom lived there for a while and I lived on that street. Because new houses were being built at the time when the number surged. I knew people were having trouble finding homes.

Mr Daw: The stage you tried to run.

Giggs: No. {441}

Mr. Dow: Your proof, by this stage, is that you are inside when the police finally find the address. House.

Giggs: Yes.

Mr. Dow: Regarding your relationship with the police, how did you interact with them on the scene?

Giggs: Just answered your question.

Mr. Daw:W It was the emotional state of a hat.

Giggs: I was scared. It was scary because I had never been in that position before.

Mr. Daw: You have been taken to the police station. I know it's between 10:00 and 11:00. Were you interviewed or questioned in any way about the events of that night?

Giggs: No.

Mr. Daw: Where did you spend the night?

Giggs: In the cell.

Mr. Daw: So how was it?

Giggs: Worst experience of my life.

Giggs starts crying

Giggs: I'm sorry

Judge : Mr. Giggs how are you? please sit down

Giggs: No, I'm fine.

Mr. Daw: Only a few minutes left. Have you contacted an attorney at any stage?

Giggs: Yes, phone.

Mr. Daw: I don't know if you were asleep, but did you speak to the lawyer by the next morning?

Giggs: No, no.

Mr Daw: When was the first time you spoke with a lawyer?

Giggs: the next day.

Mr. Daw: How long did you sleep last night?

Giggs: Very few.

Mr. Daw: What was your emotional and mental state at that time by his 12 o'clock next lunchtime?

Giggs: Same. I was a little tired, but I was scared and really tired.

Mr. Dow: And I know you made a written statement. The jury has that statement. Did you deliberately lie in an interview when you made that statement?

Giggs: No, I didn't.

Mr Daw:Y He was subsequently released on bail following an interview.

Giggs: Yes.

Mr. Daw: I was then invited for another interview.

Giggs: Yes, I did.

Mr. Doe: Interview arranged for Nov. 24

Giggs: Yes

Mr. Daw: And for the reasons the police said yesterday, the police were not ready for that interview, so they went another day.

Giggs: Yes it did

Mr. Dow: Are you back another day in December?

Giggs: Yes, I did.

Mr. Dow: Did you say something else at that time?

Giggs: Yes, I did.

Mr. Daw: Did you have access to any messages related to Kate or the investigation period by then?

Giggs: Phone not stolen.

Mr. Doe: At that stage, did you have access to a complete transcript of what Ms. Greville told the police on November 18th?

Giggs: No.

Mr. Dow: Did you know at least the outline of what she claimed in her interview?

Giggs: Yes.

Mr. Dow: Did you deliberately lie when you spoke?

Giggs: No.

Mr. Daw: Mr. Giggs, do you admit that as a human being you have many shortcomings and shortcomings?

Giggs: Yes.
