EastEnders latest: Lauren Branning returns after four years for Dot Cotton’s funeral; plus Corrie & Emmerdale news

EASTENDERS' icon Lauren Branning is making a very special reappearance on the show as she returns for Dot Cotton's funeral.

Jacqueline Jossa was snapped outside Elstree Studios as she reprises her iconic role of Lauren Branning, as well as other members of the Cotton and Branning families for emotional goodbyes to Dot Cotton.

Legendary Dot Cotton will have her official send off, after actress June Brown died on 3 April this year, aged 95.

Lauren Branning actress Jacqueline told The Sun she is "more than happy to come back," as she films for the winter episode of Dot's funeral.

A source told the Mirror: "Without giving anything away the script is beautiful and what she [June Brown] would have wanted. It was an incredibly hard couple of days on set as she was so loved."

    The show is giving character Dot Cotton it's official send off after legend June Brown passed away in April this year.

    Jacqueline Jossa was spotted at the Elstree studio as she reprises her role of Lauren Branning.

    It is expected that Declan Bennett who played Charlie Cotton will also make a surprise appearance for the funeral episode.

    Anya Lawrence, who plays Joseph’s girlfriend, spoke about why her character has a change of heart about telling the truth.

    She explained: “I think deep down she knows that Joseph was the one responsible, because she knows him better than she gives herself credit for.

    “But she doesn’t want to snitch on the person she supposedly loves.

    “The main feeling above everything else is that she’s scared of Joseph. If he’s capable of doing that to someone he barely knows, imagine what he would do to her with the rage and the betrayal he would feel.”

    The Hollyoaks actress has been sharing her pregnancy journey with fans.

    Taking to Instagram, Jorgie Porter, who is famed for playing Teresa McQueen on Hollyoaks, shared her pregnancy haul and asked for tips for her hospital bag.

    Maisie Smith played Tiffany for 13 years.

    Since leaving the soap, Smith has spoken about the impact of playing a character for so long.

    Once of the hardest things was being around adults, who often spoke over her.

    Talking about what she's faced, the actress said: "I have no idea how people see me because I just assume you just take one look at me and think, 'Oh cocky little Essex girl', which is true, but there's a lot more to me that people don't know.

    "I was on EastEnders for 13 years, which was all I can remember. I sometimes think I'm more comfortable being Tiffany than I am being Maisie.

    "I've struggled sort of speaking. And I've had, not a stutter, but I just could go blank and words wouldn't come out and I think the more that happened, the more people would just sort of talk over me."

  • Emmerdale fans blown away by storm trailer

    Fans have reacted to the upcoming storyline where the village sees destruction on the show’s 50 anniversary.

    Excited fans discussed the upcoming storyline on Twitter.

    One wrote: “This trailer look [fire emoji] hope this episodes live up to it now.”

    “The trailer looks insane Roll on the 50th birthday looking forward to watching it,” a fan said, another wrote: “This looks INSANE! Can’t wait for the October episodes to air.”

    When Jenny falls ill, Glenda is excited to host the quiz.

    Glenda, dressed to the nines, is put out when Jenny turns up feeling better.

    Jenny ends up slipping on Glenda's newley mopped floor and trists her ankle, leading Daisy to take her to A&E and leaving Goenda to host after all.

    Finding out that Glenda's night went down a storm with the locals, Jenny feels a little down. Daisy tells her she thinks Glenda may have orchestrated the entire thing.

  • Hollyoaks actor talks about shock exit

    Last week's hour-long episode included a shock departure.

    It was revealed that someone was going to die due to Silas, but the teasers didn't let on who it would be.

    During the episode, Lexi, played by Natalie Anderson, was the one who met her fate.

    Talking about her exit, she took to Instagram with an image and the caption: "What a wonderful few weeks we had shooting this epic stunt week @hollyoaksofficial. Sending the biggest of hugs to the most wonderful cast and crew. We had such a fun time! Missing you all.

    "Thank you so much Hollyoaks for having me, I’ve loved being with you and an especially big hug to the wardrobe department for Lexi’s good trousers and killer heels! Laters Lexi."

  • Elizabeth Estensen to return to Emmerdale

    The actress has spoken about the return of her character and how it ties in with Faith's farewell.

    Faith, who is dealing with terminally ill cancer, has been at the centre of a storyline about assisted suicide.

    As her time comes to an end, Diane, played by Estensen, will return to the soap.

    Talking about her return, Estensen shared: "I was really pleased to be asked to come back to Emmerdale to celebrate its 50th. It's sort of the same but not the same.

    "There's a lot of people that I still know that I was really pleased to see again. I can't say I have enjoyed having to rush for a train again though!

    "Diane has a great time catching up with people in the village but she has come back especially to see Faith whom she was great friends with. Who knows, she may return again one day!"

  • Coronation Street - Stu's given up

    Alya is determined to prove Stu's innocence and ties to find cash for a DNA test.

    Finding the fight for innocence too much, Stu tells Alya and Yasmeen that he wants to leave the past in the past, and no longer wants to pursue his case.

    Elsewhere, things are looking up for James and he's excited to share his news with Ronnie.

    The schemer recieves an urn with her name on it this week, leaving her determined.

    Sienna makes a vow to take down The Undertaker.

    Felix and Leah visit DeMarcus this week, but now that so much time has passed, DeMarcus makes clear that he's lost all hope.

    Felix, determined to free his son, tells Leah to put a cash reward out for whoever can prove his son's innocence.

  • TEASER: Emmerdale - Nate upsets Mack

    Mack and Nate have a few drinks, leaving Nate particularly tipsy.

    In his alcohol-induced state, Mack is upset when #Nate makes an ill-timed joke about his affair.

    Ryan sees things aren't quite right so orders them to tell him what's going on.

  • Jacqueline Jossa plans return to Albert Square

    The actress will be heading back to Walford as part of a tribute to Dot Branning.

    Jossa, famed for playing Lauren Branning from 2010, left the soap in 2018.

    June Brown, who played Dot Branning, left EastEnders in 2020 after joining in 1985. She died earlier this year at the age of 95.

  • Coronation Street - Stu's short-lived relief

    Stu is determined to meet spend tiome with his granddaughter despite his nerves.

    Stu meets Eliza at Speed Daal and soon relaxes when the meetring goes well and they enjoy each other's company.

    The enjoyment is quickly dashed though as Lucy arrives and insists Bridget and Eliza leave the restaurant.

    Stu is left devastated.

    One villager begins having hallucinations about his death.

    The hallucinations include images of his funeral and potential eulogies.

    Elsewhere, John Paul feels rubbish about drinking, but his family rally around him trying to cheer him up.

  • SPOILER: Emmerdale - Liv gets an unfriendly surprise

    Returning home, Liv walks in to find Terry waiting for her.

    Demanding Liv retract her statement to the police, the two end up in a fight.

    During the altercation, Terry ends up knocking Liv down who hits her head on the table and is left unconscious.

    In a panic, Terry attempts to leave but ends up face to face with Liv's brother, Aaron.

  • Sid Sumner returns to come to James Nightingale’s rescue

    James Nightingale was thrown into a coffin and the door was slammed shut by The Undertaker after he tried to report her to the police.

    He was left trapped, but after an explosion rocked the village, he was able to make an escape.

    James escapes the coffin but the horror doesn’t end there, because he becomes trapped in the rubble.

    Will Sid be able to get James out?

  • Todd Boyce in awe of former villain actor

    Todd Boyce plays Corrie’s new cold blooded killer, after pushing Leo Thompkins off the factory roof and into a bin.

    Speaking on his character’s disturbing development, he said on Lorraine: “God, I mean, Connor McIntyre, I’m just so in awe of him, who played Pat Phelan.

    “And then Brian Capron, you know, Richard Hillman, and I’m just so honoured that Iain MacLeod phoned me out of the blue and said, ‘hey, do you want to come in?’ And I thought, what an honour.

    “I’m 61 and it’s great that someone believes in me enough to say, ‘you can do that’.”

  • EastEnders: Lola caught in scary robbery

    Lola Pearce is going to be leaving the show soon, could this be her big exit?

    After Jonah has been exposed to Phil Mitchell, he realises his steam of income from Sam is soon going to diminish.

    Himself and his cronies decide to steal money out of the safe at Peggy’s, but when they arrive at the scene they find Lola in the office.

    They force her to open the safe, as she tries to break free and escape the bar.

    Will she be able to make it out alive?

  • Corrie spoilers: Stu’s name could finally be cleared of murder

    Coronation Street’s Stu is finally about to experience some hope as his murder case is settled.

    Later this week, Alya becomes suspicious that Stu’s former wife Lucy could have been the guilty party in Charlie’s death, according to Digital Spy.

    Alya deploys sneaky tactics to retrieve Lucy’s DNA, and arranges for it to be checked against historic evidence from the murder case.

    Aaron’s father has also been abusive towards the teen, who has had enough of being pushed around.
