Iran Downs Afghanistan in the 2023 CAFA U20 Championship

The Iran U20 football team defeated Afghanistan 6-1 on Tuesday in the 2023 CAFA U20 Championship.

The match started at 7:30 p.m. in Bishkek, the Kyrgyzstani capital. With Iran playing well, Afghanistan found it challenging to keep up and managed just one goal in the second half of the game. Farshad Noor managed to score the lone goal, but it wasn’t enough to change the course of the game.

In the 20th minute at the Dolon Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Sardar Azmoun scored Iran’s opening goal.

In the 21st and 28th minutes, Mehdi Taremi scored twice; in the 45th minute, Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored the game’s last goal.

Taremi scored his third goal in the 51st minute to complete his hat-trick.

Afghanistan player Farshad Noor scored their lone goal in the 57th minute.

Reza Asadi scored Team Melli’s sixth goal in the 67th minute.

One of Asia’s five regional authorities for governing association football is the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA). In Central Asia, it controls association football, futsal, and beach football. Six countries association members make up CAFA.

Except for Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, the remaining teams are part of the AFC Asia Cup Qatar 2023 lineup.

The final will feature the champions of each group, and the runners-up will compete for third place, with both matches planned for June 20.
