Hotel Fire Causes Loss of Property in Afghanistan’s Jalalabad

A hotel fire in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital, had destroyed properties and products worth more than one million USD, an official from the provincial government of Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province said on Thursday.

The official said the fire broke out at 3 p.m. and swiftly spread to other building areas.

The hotel, close to the city’s major market and administrative buildings, served as one of the primary lodging options for tourists and travellers.

The official attributed the fire to a circuit shock and said that with the firefighters’ prompt response, the blaze was put out, and homes worth roughly $100 million were saved from the flames.

The provincial capital of Nangarhar, Jalalabad, is a vital trading centre and gateway to Kabul that is strategically located near the Pakistani border.
