Israeli forces killed at least three Palestinians as the military intensified its raids on the West Bank city of Jenin on Monday, according to local health officials.

Israeli forces stormed what was described by the military as a centralised command post for militants in the Jenin refugee camp. According to the military, it was a sophisticated surveillance and reconnaissance hub where militants congregated to plan and coordinate attacks.

Al Arabiya said dozens more Palestinians were detained during the nocturnal raids. Currently, the area’s hospitals are overburdened and unable to handle the flood of injured people being brought to the emergency.

After a Palestinian revolt against Israel’s perpetual occupation gradually died down, Israeli media reported that the IDF also carried out airstrikes, resurrecting a strategy it had mainly abandoned over the previous two decades.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, three Palestinians died, and 13 were injured early Monday. Three of the injured were in critical condition. The ministry reported that Israeli gunfire killed a 21-year-old Palestinian close to the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Since the spring of 2022, as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict increased, the Jenin camp and a nearby town of the same name have become flashpoints.

The raid on Monday occurred two weeks after another bloody altercation in Jenin.

The Palestinian presidency described the overnight raids as a “War Crime.”
